I realize this might be kind of a long shot, but maybe there might be someone out there who might be able to answer my question.

I've noticed after I'll have Rocky, my white cap pi out with me, he doesn't like to come out with me again for at least another day or 2.

Is it possible that he's kind of "recharging" so to speak. Like, he has been all socialized out and just needs time alone before he comes to be with people again?

Is this even normal for pi's?

comments

I has a pi!

I recently adopted a white capped pionus yesterday. His name is Rocky he's the sweetest bird ever! Totally going to order him an avian harness so I can take him places with me. In fact, he's such a sweet bird, Jon keeps stealing him from me at every chance he gets because he's already in love with this bird.

The only thing that I need to work with him on is his weight. He's a skinny little dude because his last owner wasn't feeding him enough. This will most likely be a challenge because he's such a picky eater and won't take any food from our hands and nor will he touch much other than his pellets.

I'm so glad we adopted him because he fits in perfectly with our family and is going to end up being very very spoiled.

Lots of pics to come (eventually).

comments

Hey everyone, I just joined so I thought I'd introduce myself and my flock. I go by Flyingfluff / Fluff / Michelle. I'm currently a senior in college trying to get a degree in psychology and art, so I hopefully get a masters in art therapy. Also, regardless of whether I end up as an art therapist or not, I'd love to start becoming active in bird/parrot rescue/rehabilitation once I graduate and finish with all my schooling.

Anyways... on to the flock! Between me and my boyfriend, we are owned by a total of 11 parrots at the moment. 3 are his and the other 8 are mine. There are 5 budgies, 2 cockatiels, 2 green cheek conures, 1 black headed caique, and 1 hahn's macaw (or mini macaw).

( Flock Bios ahead )

comments

So I'm building a PVC play stand for my Congo African Grey Caesar. I've got the basics done, but I'm still deciding on if I want to add to it or possibly take it apart and rethink the set up lol. I'm hesitant to wrap the perches with vet tape yet. I hate being so indecisive lol. Anyway, I thought I'd share a picture of my progress so far. I'm open to suggestions. :)

I apologize about the picture being so dark. The lighting in my bedroom is horrible lol.

comments
